  • Job description

    Robigo is looking for an inquisitive and driven scientist who can step in and engineer microbes! As part of our strain engineering team, you will play a key role in furthering the development of our novel biopesticides. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in genetically engineering filamentous fungi, knowledge of CRISPR and/or RNAi, and creative problem solving. This position is best suited for a self-motivated individual looking to work in a seed-stage, mission-driven company.

  • What you'll do

    • Build disease-killing microbes!

    • Work closely with a small team to design and build genetic systems in non-model host organisms including bacteria and filamentous fungi

    • Design and execute experiments to test the functionality of engineered strains in vitro

    • Collaborate with the plant science team to test the functionality of engineered strains in plants

  • Who you are

    • An expert in synthetic biology, RNAi, fungal biology, or microbiology with at least a PhD or 4+ years of industry experience who loves working at the bench.

    • Are motivated to take part in the building of an organization and creating an awesome place to work.

  • Skillset

    • Experience working with and genetic engineering of non-model organisms including bacteria and filamentous fungi

    • Up to date on the most current synthetic biology techniques (including Agrobacterium-mediated transformation, CRISPR, directed evolution, etc.)

    • Nice to haves

      • RNAi and or CRISPR design and expression in microorganisms

      • Experience with biologics in agriculture

      • Fungal microbiology

      • Fungal genomics

      • Rhizosphere-associated microbiology (soil-plant-microbiome)

      • Extracellular vesicle biology in bacteria and/or fungi and/or plants

      • qPCR

      • CRISPR and/or ribozymes for genetic engineering of microorganisms, ideally fungi

      • Python and/or bioinformatic skills (e.g. genome assembly from sequencing reads)

  • Location

    This position is onsite for wet lab work. However, Robigo supports work-from-home when projects allow.
